As a naturist country, France is best understood through its season and its rules. June to September for the coast, with July and August busiest and most expensive. May and late September are quieter and still warm in the south. Naturism is protected in designated zones. Outside them, keep covered. Most French centres ask for a naturist federation card at reception, which you can usually buy on arrival.
